May 17, 2013 in Misc. by Simon

Recently, we at Pdexposures got excited by a Kickstarter project, showing off some beautifully handcrafted Pinhole Cameras in a range of formats. Elvis Halilović founder of ONDU is the craftsman behind this project which at this point in editing is at $23,544; thirteen-thousand more than the goal required for funding with twenty-six days left in the funding.

We reached out to Mr. Halilović to learn a little more about him, and the drive behind ONDU cameras, read the whole interview after the break!

Introducing The ONDU Pinhole Series of Cameras

May 14, 2013 in Misc. by Nathan Matos

Kickstarter is quickly becoming the go-to place for film photographers looking to release their project into the world. Within the past year we have seen a multitude of awesome products ranging from The Impossible Project and their Impossible Instant Film Lab all the way through to the recent Travelwide from Wanderlust Cameras. The most recent photography-related Kickstarter (having just launched 24 hours ago) brings a whole new appeal to the pinhole camera – and as such is one that will certainly reach its funding goal as well.

Ilford to Manufacture Custom Film Sizes

May 10, 2013 in Misc. by Admin

ULF SHEET FILM, CUSTOM & SPECIALIST FILM MANUFACTURE 2013

10th May 2013

ULF SHEET FILM, CUSTOM & SPECIALIST FILM MANUFACTURE 2013
THE BIGGEST EVER OFFERING (65+ ITEMS)!

HARMAN technology Limited, manufacturer of ILFORD black and white photographic products, is once again opening a sales window for its ultra large format (ULF) sheet film and other specialist products.

This allows ULF photographers to order sheet film in selected sizes from the ILFORD black and white range without the constraints of the usual minimum order quantities (M.O.Qs). Instead, HARMAN will combine orders from participating dealers across the world to ensure production runs remain viable.

Steven Brierley, Director of Marketing at HARMAN, said, “It is vitally important for us to
support users of large format sheet film, and other specialist film users. By amalgamating world-wide orders on an annual basis it allows us to make a viable production of large format sheet film or custom sizes once a year, and providing the volumes are sufficient we are happy to continue doing so.”

A Podcast Supplement: Bulk Loading

May 9, 2013 in Misc., Show Notes by Tony Gale

Thanks to a post on the Flickr group, I realise I should have really mentioned actual statistics and figures regarding bulk loading in the podcast. I just made a statement and assumed everyone either already knew I was correct or that people would just believe me. It’s bad academic/journalistic form, and this is my attempt to atone for my sins.

Pdexposures Podcast Episode 9 – Show Notes

May 8, 2013 in Show Notes by Admin

Times are hard, folks. While it’s always tempting to strap on the bulk film back and a motordrive and just burn through miles of film at 5fps, nowadays that sort of behaviour would bankrupt yourself faster than adopting the standard diet of a 1980s Yuppie – which, as everyone knows, was purely Champagne and Cocaine. Sometimes both at once, even.

And so the Pdexposures podcast team decided it was time to share our personal tips on how to keep your bank balance on the right side of zero. Just because America and Britain are running at a deficit it doesn’t mean we have to, right?

Tony's idea of bargain-priced photograpy.

Above: Tony’s idea of working to a budget. Reasonable outlays, cheap per-frame cost.

Pdexposures Podcast Episode 9 – Film on a Budget

May 8, 2013 in Podcasts by Admin

Here at Pdexposures we are more than aware that the economy is tanked, money is tight and the price of film keeps going up. So, for episode nine of the Pdexposures podcast, we present to you a selection of methods for keeping film running through your camera without totally destroying your bank balance. One of them is buying a Leica. And yes, we’re deadly serious.

This episode marks the first appearance in a “proper” episode for our intermission music provider (and film-shooting Pdexposures fan), Ki Choquette. It’s a track called “I’m Sorry That I Ruined Your Day”, and you can buy it from his bandcamp page, http://kichoquette.bandcamp.com/

And, of course, all the notes and links for this episode can be found on our website – http://www.pdexposures.tv. Please drop by and let us know what you think!

End Of The Line For The Hasselblad V-System

April 29, 2013 in Misc. by Admin

Hasselblad is to cease production of its 503CW model – the last V System camera in the company’s portfolio.

The decision, which comes into immediate effect, brings to an end over a half century of evolution of the company’s original camera line.

Dr. Larry Hansen, Hasselblad Chairman and CEO said: “Everything has its place in time. The veteran 503CW combined with an extensive V System range of interchangeable lenses and accessories, was for seventeen years the camera of choice for discerning professionals and aspirational amateur photographers.

But there has been a substantial decline in demand for this camera over the past five years or so and the time has now come for us to reluctantly consign the V System to history. In so doing we would like to thank all fans and customers for both their loyalty and their enthusiasm for our legacy Hasselblad V System.”

He added: “Now of course the focus on medium format capture is on our H System – the world’s most advanced camera system. The latest generation cameras represent medium format capture engineering at its most exemplary and are well-placed to secure and underpin the company’s unrivalled reputation for providing highest image quality and craftsmanship. Additionally we are focusing on new products for advanced enthusiasts.”

Hasselblad has confirmed that the last 503CW has rolled off the production line but the company will continue to provide V System accessories while stocks last. V System support will also still be available through current channels.
