Thrift Stories Episode 1 – Sears TLS
January 30, 2013 in Episodes by Admin
Welcome to the first episode of Thrift Stories! A segment we will come back to from time to time where we explore the wonders of the thrift store, flea market, and garage or estate sales! In this episode we do a blind test where we purchase the most interesting camera we see inside of Portland’s largest Goodwill! That camera just so happens to be a Sears TLS, a 35mm SLR that was made by Ricoh in 1967 and branded under a few different names. The lens turned out to be quite nice, but did it overcome the chunkiness and poor ergonomics? Watch and find out!

Hey Nathan! I really like that concept of Thrift Stories, really fun to watch. I wish I could find that kind of pawn shop in France but I don’t think it exists here.. Where can we find the photos you’ve taken with that good old SLR?
This is amazing! I went to one of the bigger Goodwill stores in Boston after watching this and they and ZERO cameras. Maybe they ship all of the cameras to Portland for resale. Geez.
